What I do

Simply Human is the amalgamation of many years of research, enquiry and experience in seeking peace and happiness, my own and those I have worked with and supported. Peace and happiness are the foundation to any success, personal or professional and is undoubtedly essential in realising our potential.

Working mainly, but not solely, with elite athletes and those who work with them, I provide the space within which to explore concerns and issues that impact on day-to-day life, professional performance and generally experiencing peace and happiness, for example:

  • Lack of day-to-day enjoyment
  • Dips in performance
  • Fear and worry
  • Injury and pressure
  • Identity
  • Family and working relationships
  • Expectations and doubt
  • Career transition

My work is preventative rather than curative, as allowing individuals to emotionally crash and then require intervention therapy, risking a costly career pause, or develop maladaptive behaviours, such as addiction, anger, self-harm or avoidance, could be described as closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

For me, it makes far more sense to employ the same reasoning we apply to physical health; in order to prevent the body from breaking down with injury, disease and illness we provide it with what it needs; healthy food, hydration, quality sleep and exercise.

Therefore, exploring and developing our understanding of our emotional and mental health provides us with a better opportunity in reaching our potential, personally and professionally, with the added benefit of enjoying the journey.
